JSW MG Motor is preparing to introduce a new car model to the Indian market that has long been discussed among car enthusiasts. This concerns an upcoming plug-in hybrid SUV, which is expected to be named Hector Hawk and may go on sale this month.
Presentation and Model Specifications
This SUV will be the company's first plug-in hybrid model in India. The brand has been testing this vehicle on Indian roads for a long time, and now the company has released a teaser. It became clear from the presented video that MG Motor India is preparing to launch a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), although the brand calls it a new energy vehicle (NEV) in the video.
Design and Technical Parameters
The Hector Hawk, intended for the Indian market, will be based on the Wuling Starlight 560 model available globally. Its projected dimensions include a length of 4745 mm, a width of 1850 mm, and a height of 1755 mm, with a wheelbase of 2810 mm. Internationally, this model is offered in five- and seven-passenger configurations.
Interior and Features
The vehicle will feature a clean and richly equipped cabin. It will have a 12.8-inch touchscreen multimedia system and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. Other features include leather upholstery, wireless phone charging, cruise control, Level 2 ADAS driver assistance system, and automatic climate control.
Engine and Performance
The car is powered by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine, which works together with an electric motor and a 20.5 kWh battery. This combination provides 197 hp and 239 Nm of torque. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 10 seconds, and its top speed is 170 kilometers per hour.
Range and Variants
Thanks to its plug-in hybrid status, a significant range is expected. According to available data, using the full battery charge and a full tank, the vehicle can cover a distance of up to 1000 kilometers. Furthermore, the company may release an all-electric version of this plug-in hybrid SUV.
