A shocking incident has surfaced in the Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh, casting doubt on the education system. Ramesh Chandra, the principal of Tikri primary school in the Harela area, is accused of being intoxicated on school premises and using vulgar Bhojpuri songs during lessons in an interactive classroom. Following the viral spread of a video recording of this incident on social media, the education department promptly took action and suspended him from his post.
Accusations from Local Residents
According to villagers, the director lived directly on the school grounds and was frequently under the influence of alcohol. His behavior caused prolonged dissatisfaction among students, parents, and local residents. The viral video showed the director, allegedly in an inebriated state, lying on children's desks inside the classroom. Furthermore, instead of educational material, vulgar and indecent Bhojpuri songs were broadcast on the interactive classroom's digital screen.
Additional Violations and Complaints
Residents also claimed that Ramesh Chandra often moved around the school campus during school hours dressed only in underwear and a towel, instead of proper attire. This caused constant outrage among parents and children. Parents and students stated that instead of teaching, the teacher insulted them. Moreover, antisocial elements reportedly gathered on the school grounds at night, where parties involving alcohol and chicken were held.
Learning Issues and Threats
Students in the third and fourth grades also reported that the director never taught them. The learning atmosphere in the school had virtually disappeared, and the interactive classroom was used more for entertainment than for study. Parent Gajendra Rathore stated that whenever any resident dared to object to the director's behavior, he threatened to sue them with false cases under the SC/ST Prevention of Crime laws. He also accused the director of selling old school bricks.
Investigation and Decision
After receiving these complaints, the residents approached the education department. Given the seriousness of the situation, Ashwani Yadav, Deputy Director of Education, visited the school to conduct an inspection. During the investigation, all allegations were confirmed, and according to officials, the director was found to be intoxicated during the inspection. After receiving the report from the Deputy Director of Education, Rahul Mishra, the District Basic Education Officer, immediately suspended Director Ramesh Chandra. The education department announced that further disciplinary action would be taken based on the investigation's findings. Currently, the department is conducting a detailed review of the entire case, and local residents demand the restoration of a proper educational environment and strict measures in the interest of the children.
