Pocketpair launched version 1.0 of Palworld this Friday (10th), concluding the early access period for the survival game. This update represents one of the biggest additions since the game's start in January 2024.
The studio announced that the title has reached the milestone of 40 million players across all platforms. In recognition of the community, the developer guaranteed that the game's price will remain unchanged at US$ 29.99.
According to Pocketpair, the update was made available around 0:30 AM (Brasília time) this Friday (10th), although the time may vary slightly during distribution. Version 1.0 is accessible free of charge to all players who already own the game on the following platforms: Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Store, Game Pass, and Mac App Store.
One of the highlights of the update is the opening of the World Tree, a region that was inaccessible since the launch. Previously, players could only see the distant tree, but now it becomes end-game content, introducing new enemies, unprecedented resources, and concluding the main Palworld campaign.
Additionally, the update introduces the Sky Islands, floating islands that considerably expand the map with new biomes, villages, and exclusive creatures.
The bestiary has been enriched with over twenty new Pals. Highlights include the Sky Dragon, the Sword Eel (which can be used as a weapon), the Tree Guardian, the Giant Whale, new dragon-type creatures, and a new panda-like Pal.
Pocketpair also implemented the Genetic Recombination mechanic, reforming the breeding system to allow for the combination of rare traits between creatures, resulting in more powerful Pals.
Responding to a frequent request from the community, players can now use equipment to ward off aggressive creatures during confrontations, changing the previously more peaceful approach to exploration. However, permanent elimination of Pals is still not possible, maintaining a core philosophy of the game.
There have also been significant improvements to base building and bosses. New features include new structures for building over water, enhancements to construction fitting, the reformulation of Wildlife Sanctuaries, the creation of specific arenas for each Tower Boss, and the possibility of recruiting bosses after defeating them.
Pocketpair detailed that the update contains 27 pages of patch notes, making it the largest ever produced by the studio. Players do not need to start a new save file and can continue using their existing saves, although Pocketpair recommends starting a new campaign to take advantage of all the progression and system changes in the full version.
Regarding the legal process involving Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, the developer informed that the modifications made during early access caused the dispute to focus only on older versions of the game. Thus, Palworld 1.0 has no restrictions related to this ongoing case in Japanese courts.
Despite the official end of early access, Pocketpair confirmed that it will continue developing new content for Palworld in the coming months.
