Thandiswa Mazwai, Desmond and the Tutus, and Skhumba to perform in Joburg this weekend

Several cultural events are scheduled for Joburg this coming weekend, including performances by renowned artists and comedy shows.

The Soirée: Courtside Couture

As part of The Soirée: Courtside Couture, which celebrates music, food, and culture, Thandiswa Mazwai, lead vocalist and songwriter for the group Bongo Maffin, as well as a recipient of the South African Music Awards, will perform. Her performance will take place in Joburg.

The lineup also includes 'Queen of Amapiano' Sha Sha, MTV Africa Music Award winner Shekhinah, and SAMA laureate Bongeziwe Mabandla, among many other performers. Guests will also be offered a variety of food and drinks. The event will be held at James & Ethel Gray Park in the Melrose area on Saturday, July 11th, starting at 11 am.

That Winter Fest

The annual That Winter Fest promises to liven up Jozi with a packed program. On two stages throughout one vibrant night, groups such as Desmond and the Tutus, The Tazers, Black Math, Ruff Majik, Worms, and Crunchy Sweater will perform. The festival will also feature a high-class stage production and exciting visual effects in honor of Joburg's best alternative and rock artists. The venue will be Sognage in Strydompark, with the start time set for Saturday, July 11th, at 12:00 pm.

Skhumba Comedy Show

Renowned local comedian Skhumbuzo 'Skhumba' Hlophe will spend the weekend presenting his comedy special. The show promises to be an evening of stand-up filled with the artist's signature humor. Performances will take place at The Mardi Gras in Carnival City Casino on Friday, July 10th, and Saturday, July 11th, at 7:00 pm both evenings.
