The Parisian voice artificial intelligence startup Gradium has announced the raising of a large seed funding round totaling $100 million. The company has additionally increased its initial tranche of $70 million, received last December, by adding $30 million.
Investors and Financial Support
Tech giant Nvidia joined this round as the lead investor. The raised capital of $100 million will allow Gradium to move to the next stage of active growth, highlighting the growing corporate demand for real-time audio systems. Global investors are betting on the team's deep technical expertise.
Initial Rounds and Partners
The expanded seed round demonstrates high investor confidence. The initial round in December 2025 received significant support from leading venture firms, including FirstMark Capital and Eurazeo as leaders. Other notable sponsors included DST Global Partners, Korelya Capital, and Amplify Partners. Early support for the startup was also provided by well-known private investors, such as former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, as well as French billionaires Xavier Niell and Rodolphe Sade.
Team and Technological Superiority
The startup was created seven months ago by spinning off from the French non-profit research laboratory Kyutai. Four co-founders of Gradium are recognized figures in the global AI community. Chief Executive Officer Neil Zegidur previously conducted research at Meta and Google DeepMind. Chief Scientific Officer Alexandre Defosse created EnCodec at the FAIR Meta lab. Laurent Mazare, Director of Coding, possesses extensive engineering experience from DeepMind and Jane Street. Chief Technology Officer Olivier Teboul worked at Google Brain.
Innovations in Audio Technologies
Gradium focuses on developing ultra-low latency AI models tailored for audio. Traditional voice tools often suffer from irritating delays during conversation. Gradium solves this problem by creating software for multilingual real-time speech transcription and synthesis. These tools enable developers to create seamless conversational interfaces.
Enterprise Adoption and Market Prospects
The global voice AI market is rapidly growing, projected to increase from current billions to over twenty billion dollars by 2031. Gradium is already demonstrating its value to enterprises by securing major corporate contracts. For example, the French automaker Renault uses their technology to provide a voice experience in next-generation vehicles.
Global Scaling Strategy
The new capital will be primarily directed towards Gradium's aggressive global expansion plans. Although the core research team remains in Paris, the company is opening a new office in the San Francisco Bay Area. This strategic move helps Gradium compete for top machine learning talent in Silicon Valley. Expansion into the US allows the company to better serve international corporate clients and directly compete with players like ElevenLabs and Google Gemini.
