The story begins with the journey of a father and daughter on a train from Kerala to Chennai. They were carrying a small bag containing 60 gold sovereigns intended to pay for their daughter's operation. A group of robbers attacked them and stole the bag. The father, Sukumaran, played by Malayalam actor Indren, files a report at the local police station where the robbery occurred between Kerala and Chennai.
The police reported that they could only find part of the stolen sovereigns and advised Sukumaran and his daughter Bina that the jewels could only be returned by filing a petition in court. Sukumaran was shocked, as this could take weeks or months, jeopardizing his daughter's operation. In despair, they turn to Baby Kannan, played by director RJ Balaji himself—a cunning and influential lawyer who controls the local court through corruption and connections with corrupt politicians.
