BYD, through its premium brand Denza, unveiled the Denza Z, an all-electric supercar, during the Goodwood Festival. This new model aims to set a new standard of performance for Chinese manufacturers and attract the most demanding European audience in terms of sportiness, competing with iconic models like the Porsche 911 in Europe.
The Denza Z is developed on the e3 platform and uses a three-motor electric system—one on the front axle and two on the rear—which ensures all-wheel drive and active torque vectoring. Even in its entry configuration, the vehicle demonstrates impressive specifications, boasting 1,582 hp and 126.4 kgfm of torque.
The production line includes the Coupe, Spider, and Racing versions, in addition to a special edition created specifically for the Nürburgring circuit. In terms of performance, the Coupe can complete the 0 to 100 km/h run in just 2.25 seconds and reach a top speed of 300 km/h. The Racing version, equipped with semi-slick tires, reduces this time to 1.96 seconds and reaches 350 km/h.
The Special Edition elevates the performance level, exceeding 1,971 hp and promising to achieve the same acceleration feat in under 1.7 seconds. The car's design was conceived by Wolfgang Egger, former head of style at Audi, who also worked at Alfa Romeo and Lamborghini. The bodywork was designed with a focus on aerodynamic efficiency, citing an aerodynamic load of up to 1,060 kg at 350 km/h in the Racing version.
To power the mechanical assembly, the Denza Z employs second-generation Blade batteries with a total capacity of 76 kWh. The announced range varies between 380 km and 410 km, depending on the chosen version. A notable point is the charging capability, where the brand claims it is possible to go from 10% to 97% in nine minutes, with a charging peak of up to 1,500 kW, although actual performance is conditioned by available infrastructure.
Regarding the chassis, it incorporates DiSus-M suspension and perforated carbon ceramic brakes, with six-piston calipers in the front and four in the rear. The interior maintains a 2+2 layout, but the Racing version may dispense with the rear seats in favor of a roll cage. All variants come equipped with a configurable synthetic sound system.
In the United Kingdom, orders will begin at the end of the European summer, and the first units are expected to be delivered by the end of 2026. Initial prices start at £142,900 (approximately R$ 985 thousand) for the Coupe model, while the Racing version will cost £172,900 (about R$ 1.19 million). For other European markets, BYD has not yet released information regarding prices, schedules, or which versions will be available in each country.
