The Indian market is seeing an active release of flexible fuel vehicles, covering both two-wheeler and four-wheeler segments. Among the latest additions is a motorcycle from the Yamaha brand. The company has released its first flexible fuel model for the Indian market—the Yamaha FZ Blue Flex.
Model Specifications and Cost
This motorcycle is capable of operating on fuel ranging from E20 to E85. It should be noted that the Yamaha FZ Blue Flex version is more expensive than its standard counterpart, which meets E20 requirements. The price for the Yamaha FZ Blue Flex is set at ₹1,24,240, including export duties, while the base version costs ₹1,14,760. Thus, switching to the flexible fuel version increases the cost by ₹9,480.
Engine Technical Features
The motorcycle is equipped with a 149 cubic centimeter single-cylinder air-cooled engine with fuel injection. This engine provides 8.6 kW (approximately 11.7 hp) of power and a peak torque of 12.8 Nm. The motorcycle's transmission includes 5 gears. Compared to the regular gasoline version, which produces 9.1 kW of power and 13.3 Nm of torque, the FZ Blue Flex model features higher power.
Advantages and Design
The main advantage of the Yamaha FZ Blue Flex is its ability to run on any fuel from E20 to E85. This capability is important because ethanol is considered a clean renewable fuel that helps reduce India's dependence on crude oil and decrease carbon emissions. The motorcycle's design retains the styling of the standard FZ model. It will be equipped with a full LED projector headlight, a muscular fuel tank, cooling vents, a compact exhaust system, a single-piece seat, and rear LED lights. The motorcycle also features telescopic front forks and a swingarm suspension system.
Additional Functions and Equipment
Furthermore, the motorcycle is fitted with single-channel ABS. Regarding equipment, the FZ Blue Flex is equipped with an LCD dashboard. However, it should be noted that features such as navigation, traction control, and Bluetooth connectivity are absent in this model. The motorcycle will be available in metallic black color.
