In the Gaza Strip, children have once again gone out to the sea. About 700 children attend lessons in five natural pools organized by swimming instructor Amjed Tantesh.
Living Conditions and Tragedies
In an interview with RTP Antena 1, Amjed described the area, which consists mainly of ruins, where everyone has lost someone, including himself. He recounted seeing the death of his brother Bahya Tantesh in his arms during the Israeli attack in March 2025, in addition to the students and swimming instructors.
Project Expansion and Need for Aid
Currently, Amjed Tantesh aims to expand this initiative so that more children can attend classes, as he admits that 'at the moment all children in Gaza need me.' Despite cooperation and support from the global project Swim With Gaza - Nadar com Gaza, Amjed emphasizes that help from large organizations such as UNICEF or War Child is necessary to create conditions for scaling the project to thousands of children.
