During the second quarter of 2026, the Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Rights discovered numerous instances of unjustified price increases for medicines in Uzbekistan. According to calculations, consumers incurred losses totaling 1.9 billion soms.
These cases are related to exceeding the permissible maximum trade markups when selling pharmaceuticals. The recording of such violations is carried out by tax services and then transferred to the specialized control system Fair Tech. Specialists studied the received reports and took appropriate action.
It was established that the violations occurred in 237 pharmacies. Among them, 33 enterprises were engaged in wholesale trade, and the remaining 204 were involved in retail sales. The total number of recorded abuses exceeded 148 thousand, and the unreasonably obtained income reached 1.9 billion soms. These funds have been recalculated in favor of the buyers, and steps are being taken to restore their rights.
Work to prevent such practices continues. Sanctions will be applied to pharmacies that violated the established rules, and their list will be made publicly available. Previously, the Antimonopoly Committee had also identified violations concerning the formation of the cost of paid medical services in the Syrdarya and Jizzakh regions.
