The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced a recall for a range of Jaguar Land Rover products manufactured in model years from 2024 to 2027.
Models Affected by the Recall
The recall affects vehicles such as the Jaguar F-PACE, as well as Land Rover Discovery and Defender models, and various versions of the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Range Rover Velar.
All affected models are equipped with the AJ-20-D6 engine, which is the company's 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel unit, available in various configurations designated as D250, D300, and D350.
Reason for Engine Issue
According to Jaguar Land Rover, in the engines subject to the recall, the front auxiliary drive tensioner pulley may over-rotate after receiving high torque. This can cause the pulley to strike and damage the oil pressure and temperature sensor. As a result, an oil leak from the engine may occur, potentially posing a danger to other road users, especially motorcyclists.
Recall Timelines
The specific recall timelines for each model are as follows: Jaguar F-PACE — from March 2024 to January 2025; LR Defender — from March 2024 to April 2026; LR Discovery — from March 2024 to April 2026; Range Rover — from March 2024 to June 2024; Range Rover Sport — from March 2024 to June 2024; Range Rover Velar — from March 2024 to April 2026.
Recommendations for Customers
The NCC has advised owners of potentially affected vehicles to visit their nearest Jaguar Land Rover dealership for an inspection. During this inspection, the tensioner pulley will be replaced free of charge.
Additional Fuel Tank Recall
This latest campaign follows another, very limited recall announced at the end of June. This recall concerns only three Land Rover Defender and Discovery vehicles sold between January 20 and January 30, 2026, due to a possible fuel tank defect.
JLR reported that in this rare case, the wall thickness of the fuel tank near the inlet valve may be below the design specification. This could reduce the tank's effectiveness in an accident, increasing the risk of fuel spillage and fire hazard. JLR specified that the fuel tanks of affected customers will be replaced free of charge.
