The National Consumer Commissioner (NCC) has announced the recall of certain SPAR brand yogurt products that could potentially cause discomfort to consumers.
The NCC confirmed that the information regarding the recall was received from SPAR itself. The recall affects items such as SPAR Fat Free Yoghurt, Low Fat Yoghurt, Double Cream Yoghurt, Indulge Double Cream Yoghurt, and SPAR Active Drinking Yoghurt.
According to NCC representative Feto Ntaba, the recalled goods have an expiration date of August 9, 2026, and a consumption date of August 12, 2026. These products were sold in SPAR stores nationwide starting from June 15, 2026.
Ntaba stated that SPAR notified the NCC that the recall occurred due to equipment failure during production, which led to product bloating. This could have caused changes in the taste, smell, and appearance of the product, and consuming such products may trigger stomach upset.
Consumers who have purchased any of the affected products are strongly advised not to consume them. They are advised to return the goods to the nearest SPAR store for a full refund or exchange.
The NCC urges all consumers to respond promptly to product recall notifications.
Earlier this week, the NCC also announced the recall of various Jaguar Land Rover products manufactured in model years from 2024 to 2027. According to the NCC, the recall concerns the Jaguar F-Pace models, as well as the Land Rover Discovery, Defender, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Range Rover Velar. The affected models are equipped with the AJ-20-D6 engine, which is a 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel engine from the company, available in various tuning options designated as D250, D300, and D350.
