The Gentle House project, designed by the studio The Stylesmiths, presents an architectural solution that intentionally defies expectations. From the outside, the house in Brunswick appears as a strict and dark silhouette, where cladding of carbonized wood and precise geometry contrast with the rustic character and creative atmosphere of the neighborhood.
However, as soon as a visitor passes through the entrance door, the setting changes drastically. A warm wooden 'box' greets the guest, the air becomes softer, and the space gradually unfolds. Light, water, vegetation, and then brick, wood, and stone unfold in a sequence of interiors reminiscent of a ryokan in Kyoto.
Patricia Davila, lead interior designer at The Stylesmiths, explained that the main goal was to create a 'pearl with Japanese inspiration.' She clarified that this inspiration is not literal or filled with clichés, but rather reflects the principles of tranquility, proportionality, and material honesty. According to her, it is a house that does not strive to attract attention, but simply exists.
The description provided by the project team details the architecture of Casa EJ, designed by Leo Romano. A subtle elevation on the ground floor gives a subtle touch to the facade, creating the impression that the land offers a welcome to the corner of the building.
The panels used in the construction function as dividers between public and private spaces. This feature allows the residence to open or close, adapting to the daily rhythm of the residents' lives.
The Casa Limoeiro project, developed by Mana Arquitetura, began with the acquisition of a cozy house dating from the 1940s, located in the Jardim Luzitânia neighborhood. This property represented an old desire of the owning family.
The client sought out Mana Arquitetura with the main goal of maintaining the essence and original spirit of the house, restoring the atmosphere of a vibrant, traditional home where she, her husband, their twin children, and the dog Amora could live in comfort.
One of the first interventions carried out was the removal of a structural wall that separated the living room. This action resulted in the expansion of the space and the establishment of a more organic connection between the living room, the staircase, and the kitchen. This opening promoted a complete transformation of the social area, injecting greater fluidity and luminosity into the space.
