The Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Sector of Uzbekistan held a working meeting with a delegation of business leaders and entrepreneurs from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The goal of the meeting was to determine directions for strategic cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry.
The Pakistani delegation received information about the institutional and legal reforms carried out in Uzbekistan aimed at modernizing the healthcare system. They were also presented with regulatory advantages guaranteed to international investors and the scale of the recently reconstructed 'BioPharma City' cluster for innovation and production.
This 290-hectare biotechnology hub is the leading integrated base in Central Asia for drug development, academic research, and ensuring advanced logistics. The delegation from Pakistan studied the agency's administrative functions, mechanisms of state incentives for foreign manufacturing companies, and priority areas for investment.
The main focus of the discussions was on creating localized production capacities, simplifying technology transfer, and utilizing Uzbekistan's geographical location to increase export potential to neighboring Central Asian and CIS markets. This meeting continued recent bilateral efforts aimed at transitioning pharmaceutical relations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan from simple import-export to permanent joint ventures with capital-intensive local production.
Following the business presentations, both sides exchanged technical views regarding the financial frameworks necessary to launch high-yield joint investment projects and agreed to conduct specialized operational consultations between representatives of the corporations of both countries.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, met on July 6 with Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik, Director General of the Islamic Organization for Education, Science and Culture (ISESCO), who arrived in the country to participate in the opening ceremony of the First International Forum of Islamic Civilization.
During the negotiations, the parties reviewed practical issues concerning the further development of constructive dialogue and increasing cooperation between Uzbekistan and ISESCO in the fields of science, education, culture, and tourism.

A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Abdulla Azizov, Director of the Agency for the Development of Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry, held a meeting with the leadership of the State Agency for Regulation of Medical and Pharmaceutical Activities of Georgia during their visit to the country.
The parties discussed opportunities for further development of interaction in the pharmaceutical sector. The main focus was on increasing the volume of exports of Uzbek pharmaceutical products to the Georgian market, as well as eliminating existing obstacles encountered when supplying medicines.
Representatives of local pharmaceutical companies participated in the negotiations. They raised practical issues concerning the state registration of medicines in Georgia and presented proposals for improving the relevant procedures.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to continue practical cooperation. The goal of this interaction is to strengthen partnership in the pharmaceutical sphere, expand export potential, and create more favorable conditions for pharmaceutical producers.
The Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan held a meeting with representatives of the Pakistani company Agha Jee Herbal World in Tashkent. The main topic of discussion was the possibilities for bilateral cooperation in the field of crop cultivation and the development of traditional medicine.
During the negotiations, the parties detailed the prospects of launching the production of herbal medicines on the territory of Uzbekistan. The foreign partner expressed interest in establishing a specialized training center, a medical clinic, and production facilities in Tashkent to release herbal preparations under its own brand.
A separate block of the negotiations was dedicated to investment proposals from the Pakistani side aimed at introducing new agricultural sectors in the republic. Investors proposed organizing the cultivation of saffron and high-quality Basmati rice varieties in various regions of Uzbekistan.
The participants exchanged views on selecting the most suitable locations for implementing these projects, studied the agrotechnical requirements for growing the specified crops, and outlined potential export channels for future products. At the end of the negotiations, the parties agreed to continue the joint detailed development of all presented initiatives and investment projects.
