A senior official announced on Thursday that the government is collaborating with the industry organization IT Nasscom to create an artificial intelligence curriculum for higher education programs.
The chairman of this industry group, Rajesh Nambiar, told PTI that the government, together with Nasscom, is working on revising and modifying the AI syllabus for all undergraduate programs.
As the use of AI expands in many fields, there is a need to provide opportunities for graduates to upskill and reskill. Nambiar emphasized that if graduates only complete a standard computer science course, they are unlikely to be hired, calling this the most serious problem.
According to Nambiar, the final approval of the undergraduate curriculum will take about six months, as it needs to be reviewed by various bodies, including the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Rajesh Nambiar made these statements during a briefing organized by IBS Group, where the launch of a vertical AI company named Naviq Technology was announced. Furthermore, last October, the government announced plans to introduce an AI curriculum in all schools starting from the third grade.
