A working meeting took place in the city of Shanghai, People's Republic of China, between the advisor of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in China, an official representative of the Customs Committee, and the management of 'Shanghai SUS Environment'. During this meeting, the current status of a major investment project being implemented in Uzbekistan, the progress of construction and installation works, and current issues arising during the project implementation were discussed in detail.
Goals and Agreements of the Parties
The parties reached an agreement to strengthen direct working contacts for the prompt elimination of existing problems, strengthening cooperation, and accelerating project implementation.
Details of the Investment Project
This project is carried out based on the relevant decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 24, 2025. According to this decision, it is planned to create power generation facilities by burning household waste using modern technologies in the Kashkadarya and Samarkand regions.
Financing and Progress of Works
Within the framework of the project, scheduled for the period 2025–2027, the attraction of direct foreign investments amounting to 300 million US dollars is provided for. Currently, construction and installation works are continuing in stages according to the approved plan.
Support for Investment Initiatives
It is emphasized that the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China and the Department for Support of Entrepreneurial Activities of the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan actively interact with relevant ministries, agencies, and project initiators to effectively support projects implemented with the participation of Chinese investments. Practical consultations and coordination are currently underway for a total of nine investment projects, which is a clear testament to attention to supporting foreign investments and timely implementation of large infrastructure projects in the country.
