The Public Bathroom project in Basianshan, developed by the Protoplain Architects team, uses bamboo grown in the region itself to create four sanitary facilities in a leisure area within a national forest.
Architectural intervention strategies
The interventions were conceived through four different approaches: new construction, requalification, internal renovation, and the creation of a covering structure. Each of these facilities was transformed into a space that reflects the local cultural identity, the inherent constructive capacity of bamboo, and the scenic beauty of the mountain forest.
