Ensuring the population has access to clean drinking water is one of the most important priorities in the country. A number of practical projects are being implemented in the Namangan Region as part of long-term plans.
Water Supply System Modernization
Specifically, the project 'Modernization of Drinking and Sewage Water Supply System of Namangan Region' is underway. At a meeting dedicated to this project, Mukhtorjon Khozhiev, director of the joint-stock company 'Namangan Suv Ta'minoti', provided information on the current status, completed works, and upcoming tasks of the projects being implemented with the participation of international financial institutions at the 'Kurashkhona' drinking water treatment and supply facility in the city of Namangan.
Reconstruction of the Water Treatment Facility
As part of the reconstruction project of the 'Kurashkhona' water treatment facility, which is being implemented with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, funding of $16.9 million USD is provided. During the work, nine modern pumping units are installed, a filtration and water purification facility with a capacity of 100 thousand cubic meters per day is created, and utility buildings, a dispatch center, and a central laboratory are constructed. Additionally, two reservoirs of 5000 cubic meters and one of 10 thousand cubic meters are being reconstructed.
After the completion of this project, the purification capacity of the 'Kurashkhona' water treatment facility will increase from 38 thousand to 100 thousand cubic meters per day. This will allow for high-quality water purification even with a contamination level of 2500 mg/liter and ensure continuous quality water supply to 600 thousand residents.
Expansion of Water Supply Coverage
As part of a larger project, totaling $74.6 million USD with the participation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, access to drinking water will be improved for 650 thousand people in sixteen districts of the Namangan Region, as well as for 35 thousand residents in fourteen districts of the Popsky District.
Development of the Sewerage System
At the presentation of the investment project for the reconstruction of the main wastewater treatment facility based on public-private partnership, detailed information was presented on future works, expected results, and the significance of the project for improving the regional environmental situation and the quality of life of the population. Within this project, valued at $96 million, the creation of a modern wastewater treatment facility with a capacity of 100 thousand cubic meters per day, one wastewater pumping station, and the construction of 7.5 kilometers of new sewage network is planned.
The implementation of this project will improve the quality of drainage services for residents of the cities of Namangan, Yangi Namangan, and Davlatobodsk districts, as well as for residents of Turakkorgon, Kosonsoy, Namangan, Uychi, Chortoq, and Yangikurgon districts.
Application of Advanced Technologies
The presentation highlighted the introduction of the advanced global technology 'Nereda' for biological wastewater treatment. This technology contributes to reducing negative environmental impact and further improving the ecological and sanitary-epidemiological situation.
Instructions from Regional Leadership
Upon completion of the presentations, the head of the Namangan Region gave instructions to responsible persons regarding the high-quality completion of construction and installation works within the established deadlines, ensuring full compliance with international standards, and guaranteeing continuous quality drinking water supply to the population.
