Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem held a meeting with a delegation from Jiangsu Changhong Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. (Changhong Smart) from China. The discussion focused on the possibility of establishing a $20 million industrial complex in Egypt to support the country's automotive industry through the implementation of smart manufacturing solutions.
Project Details and Goals
The delegation was led by Chairman Qiu Yunze. The Chinese company presented plans for building a modern industrial complex based on advanced smart manufacturing technologies. This project will provide comprehensive solutions for the automotive sector, including production line equipment, intelligent software systems, and consulting services for factory design and planning, aiming to strengthen Egypt's automotive infrastructure.
Egypt's Industrial Development Strategy
Hashem emphasized that the automotive industry and related sectors are government priorities. The ministry is implementing a comprehensive strategy aimed at transitioning from simple vehicle assembly to full-scale production, increasing the share of local content, and boosting the added value of domestic products. He noted that the ministry seeks to attract leading global automakers and companies specializing in advanced manufacturing technologies to form an integrated industrial ecosystem and strengthen Egypt's position as a regional center for automotive export and production.
Investment Attractiveness and Technology
According to the minister, the government's efforts include not only launching production projects but also technology transfer, building local competencies, and training Egyptian specialists in industrial engineering, smart manufacturing, and digital transformation, viewing human capital as the foundation for sustainable industrial growth. Hashem also pointed to Egypt's attractive investment environment, which includes a strategic geographical location, improving infrastructure, a network of trade agreements ensuring broad access for Egyptian products to regional and international markets, and the presence of qualified technical personnel.
Jiangsu Changhong's Position
The company representative, Qiu, expressed gratitude for the achievements in the industrial sector and the investment climate in Egypt. She stated interest in expanding its presence in the Egyptian market through long-term partnerships focused on exchanging technical expertise, technology transfer, and training local engineers. Jiangsu Changhong intends to collaborate with scientific institutions, research centers, and innovation hubs, utilizing artificial intelligence and digital transformation technologies to develop advanced industrial solutions supporting the future of Egypt's automotive industry.
