Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment have released the first trailer for Dune: Part Three, offering fans a first look at the highly anticipated conclusion to Denis Villeneuve's Oscar-winning science fiction saga.
The trailer opens with a tense confrontation between Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet, and Chani, portrayed by Zendaya. This scene hints at the consequences of Paul's rise to power. Chani tells him: 'I trusted you. You promised me you would never take power into your own hands,' setting the tone for the most personal and emotionally charged part of the trilogy.
The action of Dune: Part Three takes place approximately two decades after Paul seized control of the Empire. The film follows the former revered leader as he grapples with the repercussions of his reign. The studio has reported that old allies are returning, frightening new threats are emerging, and betrayal lurks in every shadow, as Paul becomes entangled in a massive conspiracy while being haunted by visions of the Empire's collapse and the return of lost love.
A few hours after participating in a global fan event dedicated to Dune: Part Three, Timothée Chalamet shared the official trailer on Instagram. Concurrently, the Abu Dhabi Film Commission released new behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot conducted in the Liwa Desert in Abu Dhabi, which once again transforms into the fictional planet Arrakis. This marks the third Dune film in the franchise shot in the emirate, continuing a seven-year collaboration between Legendary Entertainment and the Abu Dhabi Film Commission.
During the 31-day shoot in Abu Dhabi, over 600 people from the UAE participated, including 206 local crew members, 336 contractors from the wider creative industry, six production interns, and 38 residents involved in crowd scenes.
Samir Al Jaberi, head of the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, noted: 'The opportunity to work again with the incredible cast and crew of Dune: Part Three, with the Liwa Desert in Abu Dhabi serving as Arrakis for Denis Villeneuve's climactic installment, was truly moving and a turning point for the entire creative ecosystem of Abu Dhabi.' He added that 'the impact of Dune: Part Three is enormous. We, like the rest of the world, are now in an exciting countdown to December 16th, when we will see the fruits of so many individual efforts that came together to ensure seamless collaboration with Legendary Entertainment.'
Speaking at a global event following the trailer's release, Villeneuve explained why returning to the deep desert remained necessary for the trilogy. He stated: 'The desert is a character in three films, and we did not compromise on that.' He acknowledged that it was challenging for the actors and the team, but it lent the films much poetry and energy. The director also praised the landscapes of the Abu Dhabi desert, calling the experience of shooting there unforgettable, noting that 'feeling the energy as the sun rises, seeing the delight in the eyes of every member of the crew, you feel the power of the desert and how inspiring it is. If you ever get the chance to go there, I recommend it. It is extraordinary.'
Chalamet shared similar feelings, recalling the unique experience of filming on location. He said there are places where 'you almost feel like you are on a safari or a magnificent walk just to get to the workplace.' The actor also admitted that concluding the trilogy was emotional after many years of embodying Paul Atreides. 'I lived with this for so long. I am so proud to work with Denis and this family,' Chalamet shared. 'I felt like I was losing a part of myself going through this.'
Villeneuve revealed that he initially planned to take a long break after Dune: Part Two but could not detach himself from the story. 'I kept waking up at night with images that grew stronger and stronger,' he recounted. 'I felt a responsibility to finish this story, so I wrote the film immediately.' The director added that although Dune: Part Three concludes his trilogy, audiences should expect something different from previous parts. 'I didn't want us to follow our own footsteps. I wanted to bring the audience to new parts of Arrakis. It is more like a thriller. It is more emotional, and it is definitely more intense.'
The film is based on Frank Herbert's 'Dune Messiah' and stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Robert Pattinson, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Charlotte Rampling, along with newcomers Naoya Wolf Momoa and Ida Brook. Dune: Part Three premieres in theaters worldwide, including the UAE, on December 16th.
SS Rajamouli's films 'Baahubali' and 'Baahubali 2' significantly elevated the level of Indian cinema in terms of narrative, production scale, and box office collections. The first part, released in 2015, established an atmosphere, while the second part, released in 2017, was a massive success. To this day, 'Baahubali 2' holds box office records that are difficult to match even by modern blockbusters.
Rajamouli's legacy has generated constant fan interest regarding the potential appearance of 'Baahubali 3'. Audiences have repeatedly asked the actors and Rajamouli himself about continuing the franchise. Recently, Prabhas made a hint that is being interpreted as a positive sign for the third installment.
The documentary 'Baahubali: The Torchbearer' recently premiered on Netflix, detailing the arduous process of creating the epic film 'Baahubali'. In this film, participants, including Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, and Anushka Shetty, shared many little-known production details. Among Rana Daggubati's statements, a phrase concerning 'Baahubali 3' caused the most resonance, which Prabhas also supported.
Rana Daggubati jokingly stated: 'I don't know if I should say this publicly. But since Rajamouli and Shobha (producer) are not here, I will say what I think. Maybe the world is not ready for it yet, but much more will happen in Baahubali.' After these words, Prabhas and Anushka Shetty laughed. Immediately after this, Prabhas showed three fingers to the camera, which many began interpreting as a hint towards 'Baahubali 3'. Furthermore, at the end of the documentary, Prabhas says the phrase: 'And the legacy continues,' which intensified the discussion among fans about whether Rajamouli is truly preparing 'Baahubali 3'. Nevertheless, no official announcement has been made by the creators yet.
In 2025, the creators expanded the 'Baahubali' universe by releasing the animated series 'Baahubali: Crown of Blood'. Last year, Rajamouli presented a teaser for an animated project from the same universe—'Baahubali: The Eternal War - Part 1', whose quality amazed viewers. This film, scheduled for 2027, is considered a hit even before its theatrical release.
Rajamouli had previously stated his desire to develop the 'Baahubali' franchise through various new media and formats. He noted that successful brands in Western countries transform into multimedia franchises. He mentioned that they attempted to create games, a VR film, and a series for 'Baahubali', but the results did not meet expectations. He then added that 'Baahubali' would not be limited to just an animated series but would evolve into many other formats, although now is not the time for detailed discussion.
The combination of Rajamouli's past statements and recent hints from Rana and Prabhas has reignited fan hopes for 'Baahubali 3', although it is advisable to wait for an official statement from the creators before excessively exciting the public.
Akshay Kumar's second film, 'Welcome to the Jungle,' was released in theaters this year. At the preview screenings held on Thursday evening before the Friday release, the audience reacted quite positively. The overall review of the film was mixed, but it is recommended to watch it for the comedic experience, ignoring other aspects. Akshay's comedy is considered the film's strongest point, which helps it with box office collections. More than 30 famous Bollywood actors starred in 'Welcome to the Jungle,' including Sunil Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, and Rajpal Yadav. According to a report by Sakencilk, the film collected about 4.50 crore rupees in gross and 3.75 crore rupees in net revenue at the preview screenings. This is similar to what Akshay Kumar's hit comedy 'Bhoot Bangla' collected at its preview screenings in April.
