Following urgent appeals from the Heart of Stella Foundation and KidsCare, donations of clothing, food, toiletries, blankets, and comfort items poured in for the toddler, who will turn three in August, as well as for the family that took her into their home.

Woman found dead in bathroom in Baitul; relatives accuse mother-in-law of harassment

A suspicious death occurred in the Baitul area of Madhya Pradesh state involving a woman from the village of Amla. Ranjita Yadav, 37, was discovered hanging in the bathroom of her own home. Grief has gripped the family following the tragedy, and disagreements between relatives and the husband's family have complicated the case.

Circumstances of Death

Ranjita Yadav married Prashant Yadav, a textile trader from Amla, about ten years ago. She raises a 10-year-old daughter and a newborn baby girl, who is about two months old. On Friday, when she did not come out of the bathroom for a long time, relatives broke down the door. Inside, they found Ranjita hanging from a rope. She was immediately taken to the hospital, but doctors pronounced her dead. On Saturday, the police completed the autopsy and handed over the body to the relatives.

Accusations by Relatives

The deceased's sister, Vidhya Yadav, leveled serious accusations against the husband's family. She stated that Ranjita had been subjected to psychological pressure for many years. According to her, the younger daughter-in-law received more attention while Ranjita performed most of the household chores. Relatives also noted that after the incident, they received contradictory information, which intensified their suspicions. They demand an impartial investigation and strict action against those responsible.

Husband's Family Stance

The deceased's father-in-law, Surendra Yadav, completely rejected all claims made by the relatives. He reported that Ranjita had been undergoing treatment for depression for many years, and the family had always supported her. He added that all family members were at home on the day of the incident. When Ranjita did not come out of the bathroom for a long time, the door was forced open, and she was urgently taken to the hospital, where her death was announced. The husband's family insists that they never discriminated against or harassed Ranjita, and all accusations are unfounded.

Law Enforcement Investigation

According to the Amla police, preliminary investigations suggest that the woman may have committed suicide. Nevertheless, the police are thoroughly examining all available evidence before drawing any conclusions. The police state that the investigation continues based on the autopsy results, crime scene evidence, and testimonies from both sides. All facts will be compared. If sufficient evidence related to psychological pressure or incitement to suicide is found during the investigation, the relevant individuals will be held accountable under the Indian Penal Code (BNS).
