The film 'Alpha' starring Alia Bhatt is showing declining performance at the box office. Despite a strong collection during the first weekend, audience reviews were mixed, and word-of-mouth was not sufficiently positive, leading to reduced interest after the weekend concluded.
Film Collection Dynamics
After the weekend ended, the film began showing unstable results in theaters starting Monday. Although there was hope for support due to discounted ticket promotions on Tuesday, this did not materialize, and 'Alpha' faced difficulties in just six days.
First Weekend and Subsequent Drop
'Alpha', a collaboration between Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, is the first female lead film in Bollywood's biopic universe. Despite initially facing online harassment, the film managed to attract an audience over the weekend. In its first box office weekend, 'Alpha' grossed a net collection of 34 crore rupees, which offered some hope. However, on test Monday, the film failed to maintain momentum, and collections dropped by approximately 60%.
Unsuccessful Support Attempts
Even the 'Blockbuster Tuesday' promotion on Tuesday, when ticket prices were lowered, did not bring significant benefit to 'Alpha'. Collections on Monday amounted to 3.85 crore rupees, while on Tuesday they reached only 4.25 crore rupees. When tickets returned to standard prices on Wednesday, the number of viewers decreased again.
Overall Figures and Prospects
According to the report from Sakencilk, on the sixth day, the film collected 2.85 crore rupees, which was 25% more than on Monday. The total net collection for 'Alpha' over six days approached 45 crore rupees. Meanwhile, the film's stated budget is 125 crore rupees. Initially, it was expected that the first week would be in the range of 55–60 crore rupees, but 'Alpha' will finish the first week within 47–48 crore rupees.
Future at the Box Office
A new film, 'Dhamal 4', is releasing in theaters on Friday, attracting audiences in a positive mood. Since word-of-mouth no longer supports 'Alpha', large jumps over the weekend are unlikely. Consequently, the film's future at the box office looks uncertain.
