The first seasonal rain in the Delhi-NCR region brought significant relief to residents. This heavy downpour provided a double benefit to Delhi: the temperature dropped significantly, making the weather pleasant, and air quality reached one of the cleanest levels this year.
Air Quality Readings
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board, on Wednesday at 4:00 PM, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was only 59, which falls into the 'satisfactory' category. This is the lowest and best AQI reading since the beginning of 2026. Previously, on June 12 of this year, the best AQI reading in Delhi was recorded at 73, which has now been surpassed.
Temperature Drop and Coolest Areas
Thanks to the rain, there was a sharp drop in temperature in Delhi. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature in Delhi fell significantly below normal, reaching 30.8 degrees Celsius. Among the various areas of Delhi, meteorological stations noted Ayangar as the coolest area, where the maximum temperature reached 28.3 degrees Celsius. The second coolest area was Ridge, where the maximum temperature was 29.4 degrees Celsius.
Weather Forecast for the Coming Days
The Indian Meteorological Department predicts that light rains are possible in different parts of Delhi on Thursday. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to fluctuate between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius. Nevertheless, meteorologists also warn that starting from Friday, the amount of precipitation will gradually decrease, and the rainy period may end. Despite this, the sky over Delhi will remain cloudy, which will help keep the temperature within normal limits and provide residents with temporary relief from the heat.
