Two significant performances are scheduled for the city of Durban in July: the epic musical 'Prince of Egypt' and the dance-theatrical production 'Naina'.
'Prince of Egypt': The History of Ancient Egypt
The production 'Prince of Egypt' is a large-scale musical that immerses the audience in the wonders of Ancient Egypt. The plot tells the story of two young men, Ramses and Moses, who were raised as brothers in a privileged kingdom, but whose fates diverge due to a secret past. One is destined to rule as a Pharaoh, while the other must rise to liberate his people, confronting a future that will forever change history.
This show is ideal for entertaining youth during summer school holidays. It features an impressive cast of 60 senior and 74 junior students representing 42 different schools. It also marks the directorial debut of Roberto Pombo's Young Performers Project (YPP), who worked with a brilliant creative team, including Evashni Pillay (choreography), Desa Govender (musical direction), Anta Govender (sound design), Nicolen Stein (set/prop design), Evan Le Roux (lighting design), and Cathy Singeri (costumes).
