The procedure for importing mobile devices has been simplified in Uzbekistan, allowing passengers to complete the customs declaration online directly at the airport.
How the new service works
According to information provided by the Customs Committee, to complete the declaration, it is sufficient to use a QR code placed at the airport. After scanning the code and entering passport details, the passenger's information is automatically uploaded to the system. Next, the IMEI code of the device must be scanned or manually entered, after which the system automatically determines its main parameters, such as make, model, and year of manufacture.
Registration and fee payment
Simultaneously with submitting the declaration, the phone is registered in the UzIMEI system. If there is a need to pay a customs fee, this can be done through the same service, avoiding the need to switch to third-party platforms.
Import requirements and statistics
The Committee emphasized that declaring phones imported from abroad is a mandatory requirement. Failure to comply with this rule will make device registration in the UzIMEI system impossible, or require payment of a single customs duty amounting to 30% of the gadget's value. According to the agency, in the first half of 2026, over 374 thousand mobile devices were imported into the country through border customs posts, more than 321 thousand of which cost less than one thousand dollars. Thanks to the introduction of the new service, most passengers will be able to complete the process without queues and personal interaction with customs officers.
