During her debut guest hosting appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Tiffany Haddish criticized President Donald Trump, particularly regarding his controversial involvement in FIFA matters.
On Monday, Haddish began her weekly hosting role with sharp criticism of the president's outreach to FIFA. She spoke up for the players, noting that the president personally contacted the head of FIFA to secure the reinstatement of a player who was supposed to be disqualified before a match.
Haddish stated: 'One of our star players was supposed to be suspended from today's game, but President Donald personally called the head of FIFA to reinstate the player.' She added that this was surprising because 'Trump knows nothing about football, and this is the first time he has defended a Black person!'
The president's interference proved unsuccessful, as the US men's team lost to Belgium 4-1 on Monday. Earlier, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that he had 'asked FIFA to conduct an investigation,' while insisting that 'he had no involvement in the decision.' Nevertheless, he also stated on Truth Social: 'Thank you, FIFA, for doing what was right and canceling a great injustice.'
Besides football, Haddish also mocked Trump's 'Great American State Fair,' which saw low attendance due to extreme heat and canceled concerts. In response to Trump's comment that the event would be 'packed,' she replied that there were more people at her bar mitzvah.
Haddish replaced Kimmel during his traditional two-month summer vacation. Starting July 13, actor Anthony Anderson will take over the duties of guest host.
