Diljit Dosanjh has become the center of controversy due to his film 'Sattaluj'. This film was suddenly removed from G5 on July 5th, but it was released on streaming platforms on July 3rd without the approval of the censorship board. When many viewers watched this picture, they were amazed by the plot based on the story of Jaswant Singh Haldi. The Indian government banned the screening of the film because it believed some of its parts could be used against India.
Interest in the Film in Pakistan
Although 'Sattaluj' is no longer available on streaming services, it is being watched through pirate channels. Due to this, Pakistan has also shown interest. The discussion about the film is taking place on the country's news channels. One Pakistani journalist wrote on X, questioning why the film 'Sattaluj' should be shown in their country, especially in Punjab (Pakistan).
Calls for the Film's Screening
In social media, one of Pakistan's leaders, Fawad Chaudhry, asked where one could watch Diljit's controversial film. According to The Print, Pakistani journalist Faisal Hussain believes that the Pakistani government should allow the screening of 'Sattaluj' in all cinemas. He emphasized that it is a wonderful artistic work by Diljit Dosanjh and the entire team, which demonstrates the alleged cruelty of the Indian government. Hussain appealed to the Pakistani government and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to permit its release.
Public Questions and Reaction
Fawad Chaudhry, who is a former Minister of Information for Punjab and a leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, initiated this discussion. The report further states that the people of Pakistan perceive 'Sattaluj' as if it were made by a Pakistani production house that was banned in Islamabad. The leader questioned the reasons for such a ban. Many users compared the film to the persecution of Sikhs and allegations of enforced disappearances that occurred during the rule of Pakistan Army General Asim Munir. Moreover, Fawad Chaudhry published another post mentioning the term 'Modi Janata' in the context of the 'Sattaluj' film ban. However, some people disagreed with his statement and started lecturing him about censorship.
Proposals for the Film's Screening
Nevertheless, Fawad Chaudhry did not back down. After watching the film, he put forward his proposals. He wanted the current Minister of Information and Broadcasting for Punjab, Uzma Buhari, to organize a premiere of the film specifically for the Pakistan Crime Control Department. He thought this might help them understand the terrible nightmare that is the killing of people.
