As artificial intelligence transitions from the experimentation phase to actual implementation, the primary focus of developers shifts from generating ideas to rapidly transforming those ideas into functional systems. Snowflake believes that the next breakthrough in innovation will be achieved by those capable of transforming a concept into a ready product without encountering complexities.
This focus on creating solutions is at the core of the Snowflake CoCo CLI 2026 hackathon. The event brings together developers, data engineers, and AI specialists to build intelligent applications based on Snowflake's AI Data Cloud. The main message is the necessity of moving from mere contemplation to active creation.
Snowflake CoCo CLI is an AI-powered coding agent that converts commands given in natural language into production-ready systems. This tool relieves developers of the burden of writing large volumes of code, allowing them only to describe the desired outcome—be it SQL queries, machine learning pipelines, applications, or agents.
A simple prompt like 'find all customer tables I have access to' can automatically generate optimized SQL to display the required datasets. More complex workflows allow for the creation of full machine learning pipelines: discovering tables, training models, deploying monitoring agents, and sending notifications to Slack. The platform also supports real-time fraud detection, workflow management, and integration with popular tools. Through development using multiple agents and autonomous cloud agents, Snowflake allows months of engineering work to be compressed into a single session.
Unlike competitions focused on ideas, the Snowflake CoCo CLI 2026 hackathon is structured around building and deploying practical solutions. Participants will go through the journey from initial concept to prototype and final implementation, creating systems that solve real-world problems using Snowflake's AI Data Cloud. The program is designed for software engineers, data engineers, data scientists, AI and ML practitioners, and backend developers experienced in building data-driven applications.
Developers from India can participate individually or in teams of up to four people. The emphasis is on applications demonstrating end-to-end execution and thoughtful system architecture. Key areas include workflow automation, natural language-driven applications, systems combining structured and unstructured data, and industry-specific AI assistants.
The hackathon focuses on four problems that reflect key capabilities in enterprise AI:
Registration is now open. Participants will gain access to workshops, masterclasses, and Q&A sessions until the submission of prototypes in July. Registration and application deadlines are August 2nd. This will be followed by evaluation and selection stages, culminating in the grand finale from September 1st to 4th, where selected teams will demonstrate their solutions.
Projects will be evaluated based on three criteria: technical execution (40%), real-world relevance (30%), and overall solution completeness (30%).
The total prize pool is $10,000 USD. The winning team will receive $4,300, while first and second place winners will receive $2,200 and $1,590, respectively. Additionally, five teams will receive $530 each. Finalists will also receive recognition within the Snowflake ecosystem, the opportunity to present their work to industry experts, and expanded networking opportunities within the growing Indian developer community.
In an era where AI tools accelerate and simplify software development, the Snowflake CoCo CLI 2026 hackathon is positioned as a platform for developers aiming to explore the next phase of AI-native applications.
