PhonePe appoints Srijon Biswas as Chief Technology Officer and Rahul Chari as Chief Product and Technology Officer

PhonePe announced on Wednesday the appointment of Srijon Biswas as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with immediate effect. Biswas, who has worked at the fintech company for almost ten years and previously held the position of Head of Engineering, will now oversee the entire engineering structure of PhonePe.

Changes in Company Leadership

According to the company's statement, Biswas will continue to report to PhonePe co-founder Rahul Chari. As part of a broader shift in leadership responsibilities, Chari, formerly the CTO, will take on the role of Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO) while retaining his status as a co-founder.

Expansion of Chari's Authority

Chari's responsibilities already included technology, product, trust, and security, as well as data science and analytics. He recently expanded his portfolio to include customer experience and artificial intelligence (AI), in addition to leading other strategic projects within the PhonePe group.

Raymond Ltd announced on Monday the appointment of Bhanu Prakash Srivastava, former Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its defense division. This move aligns with the company's focus on opportunities in India's aerospace and defense sectors.

Expansion of Engineering Portfolio

According to the company, this appointment comes in the context of expanding Raymond's engineering portfolio beyond traditional manufacturing competencies. The company intends to strengthen its presence in defense technologies and systems.

Experience of the New Leader

Srivastava possesses nearly forty years of experience in the defense sector. He spent 39 years at BEL, working in operations, research and development, marketing, naval systems, and strategic program implementation.

During his tenure as CMD, BEL's capitalization increased from 51,000 crore to 1.5 trillion rupees, and the company secured over 55,000 crore in new orders and launched more than 100 products.

Strategic Plans at Raymond

At Raymond, he will be responsible for shaping the company's long-term defense strategy and overseeing growth plans in this segment. The company also stated its intention to develop capabilities in defense electronics, software, systems integration, as well as related aerospace and automotive technologies.
