PhonePe announced on Wednesday the appointment of Srijon Biswas as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with immediate effect. Biswas, who has worked at the fintech company for almost ten years and previously held the position of Head of Engineering, will now oversee the entire engineering structure of PhonePe.
Changes in Company Leadership
According to the company's statement, Biswas will continue to report to PhonePe co-founder Rahul Chari. As part of a broader shift in leadership responsibilities, Chari, formerly the CTO, will take on the role of Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO) while retaining his status as a co-founder.
Expansion of Chari's Authority
Chari's responsibilities already included technology, product, trust, and security, as well as data science and analytics. He recently expanded his portfolio to include customer experience and artificial intelligence (AI), in addition to leading other strategic projects within the PhonePe group.
Comments and Scale of PhonePe
Rahul Chari noted: 'As PhonePe continues to expand and grow, strengthening our technological leadership is a natural step. The appointment of Srijon ensures that we continue to deeply invest in engineering excellence while building the technological platforms that will power the future of digital India.'
Launched in 2016, PhonePe has over 700 million registered users.
