The Defender range has been updated with numerous minor improvements, including new accessories and finishes, the option for a six-seater configuration, and a revised lineup of powertrains. However, the most significant innovation is the Vertex model, which offers numerous design enhancements.
Vertex Model and Design
The Defender Vertex model is on par with the luxurious X specification and features redesigned front and rear bumpers, a larger radiator grille, and altered fog lights, all finished in Shadow Atlas Matte color. The new variant is equipped with unique 22-inch Diamond Turned wheels with a Satin Dark Grey finish. Other distinguishing features include a gloss black roof spoiler and yellow front brake calipers with corresponding rear towing 'eyes.'
The new Namib Orange exterior color is inspired by the sand dunes of Namibia. The Vertex model is available in Fuji White, Santorini Black, Woolstone Green, Borasco Grey, and Carpathian Grey, as well as in the matte protective coating Patagonia White Matte Wrap. All paint options can be complemented with a matte protective film. The interior uses Ebony Forged textile, which is a new accent material for the Defender.
Range Expansion
The Defender also offers an extended exterior package, inspired by Vertex, for the X-Dynamic SE, HSE, and V8 models. This package includes new elongated front and rear bumpers in Shadow Atlas Matte, and buyers can choose wheels ranging from 20 to 22 inches.
New Six-Seater Configuration
Buyers of the Defender 110, the largest model in the range, can now opt for a six-seat arrangement. The 2+2+2 configuration features two 'luxury' captain's chairs in the second row. Each of these seats has side bolsters, individual armrests, a manual recline function, and two cup holders in the center console.
Introduction of Hybrid Engine
The Defender engine lineup has been expanded with a new 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine featuring mild hybrid (MHEV). It delivers 280 kW of power and 550 Nm of torque. According to Defender, this engine is equipped with a range of new technologies aimed at improving fuel efficiency in real-world operating conditions.
Additional Options and Accessories
Defender buyers can now choose from 15 exterior color options, including the brand new Namib Orange shade, created based on the bright orange sand dunes of the Namib coastal desert. Furthermore, the Defender 110 Trophy Edition, introduced in 2025 with numerous adventure accessories, is now available in Santorini Black. Defender customers wishing for a more durable exterior finish can utilize the Gloss Protective Film option, offered for the first time.
Jaguar Land Rover has also increased its range of factory accessories for the Defender. New additions include the Expedition LED roof light with up to 350m illumination, a 60-liter lockable roof cargo box, and new roof spoiler options. Buyers can also select themed accessory packs, such as the Explorer Pack for off-road expeditions, the Adventure Pack with equipment like an integrated air compressor and portable washing system, and the Urban Pack, which adds stylistic enhancements for city driving.
The price of the updated Defender range starts from R1,613,000, while the Vertex model is offered from R2,243,700.
