Residents of South Africa can expect mostly clear weather, with light rain forecasted along the southern coast. Wednesday is expected to be another generally dry and cool winter day, and the South African Weather Service has not issued any severe weather warnings.
Weather in most provinces
Most provinces, including Gauteng, North West, Free State, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga, will experience cool and clear conditions. However, morning frost is expected in some areas of the Free State and Mpumalanga Highlands, and foggy patches may appear in some inland areas early in the morning.
Precipitation in the south of the country
The most noticeable precipitation is forecast for the southern regions of the Western Cape, where cloudiness, morning fog, and isolated showers or light rain are expected. The chance of rain remains low, around 30%, with isolated showers likely along parts of the southern coast.
Similar chances of rain at 30% are expected in the evening along sections of the southwest and southern coastline of the Eastern Cape. KwaZulu-Natal, meanwhile, should remain clear and cool or warm throughout the day, becoming partly cloudy in the southeastern areas by evening.
Weather risks and UV index
The Eastern Cape will also enjoy mostly clear weather, although cloud cover is expected to increase towards the end of the day along the coast. Meanwhile, in some parts of the Eastern Cape, including the local municipalities of Insuba Yethimba, Enoch Mgijima, and Intsika Yethu, extremely high fire danger conditions are expected, and residents are strongly advised to exercise caution when using open flames and conducting activities that could cause wildfires.
The ultraviolet level will be moderate in Gauteng and very high in both the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, prompting residents to take appropriate sun protection measures during prolonged time outdoors. Overall, Wednesday will be characterized by cool, stable winter weather across most of the country, with only isolated light precipitation expected along certain stretches of the southern coast.
