Cult.Fit prepares IPO documents amid analysis of healthcare costs

Data from India's workforce reveals a noticeable gender imbalance. While men not in the labor force often invest in their future through education, women are more frequently forced to leave work to take on unpaid caregiving and domestic responsibilities. According to new NSO data, despite the increase in female labor force participation in urban areas of India, childcare and housework remain significant obstacles to women's economic integration.

More than half of men (53.5%) outside the labor market cite education as the reason for their absence, whereas 68.7% of women point to childcare and household duties. Female labor force participation in over 46 million cities in India has increased from 19.8% in 2017–2018 to 27.2% in 2025, and the labor force ratio has risen from 17.9% to 25.5%.

Experts emphasize that improving childcare infrastructure, flexible work policies, return-to-work programs, and shared caregiving responsibilities are necessary to retain more women in the workforce.

Cult.Fit's IPO preparation

After ten years of developing one of India's largest fitness and wellness platforms, Cult.Fit is preparing to go public. The company has filed for an IPO, hoping that steady growth and reduced losses will convince investors of its ability to achieve profitability.

IPO details and financial performance

The IPO plans for a new issuance worth 950 crore rupees. These funds are intended for opening new fitness centers, meeting rental obligations, debt repayment, marketing, and expanding the retail business of Cultsport. Existing investors, including Tata Digital, MacRitchie (backed by Temasek), Accel, and founder Mukesh Bansal, will also partially exit through an OFS mechanism.

The company's revenue grew by 41% year-on-year, reaching 1,720.6 crore rupees in fiscal year 26, while net loss almost halved to 251.9 crore rupees. Although the company is approaching the break-even point, it has not yet become profitable.

Cult.Fit's growth strategy

Although fitness services still account for about 70% of revenue, the faster-growing product business, which includes sports equipment, apparel, and nutrition, demonstrates Cult.Fit's ambition to become a broader consumer wellness brand.
