The government plans to conduct comprehensive testing of E25 fuel, which is a mixture of gasoline with 25% ethanol, and also study the resulting reports and consult with all stakeholders before making a final decision on its launch.
Assessment of impact on transport
Amid growing concerns about how E20 fuel affects fuel consumption and vehicle performance, Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated that the government is not rushing to make this decision.
Testing and consultation process
According to Puri, if anyone proposes the introduction of E25, it has been clearly indicated that tests are being conducted. He emphasized that these tests will take some time. Once the reports are ready, they will be evaluated, and then the results will be discussed with stakeholders and car manufacturers.
Position on E20 fuel
The minister also defended the use of E20 fuel, noting that automakers have found no issues operating vehicles on this blended fuel. Puri added that the blending of ethanol is based on scientific data and was adopted after careful review and extensive trials. An official representative reported that there is currently no schedule set for the commercial launch of E25.
