Mercedes-AMG has launched the new G 63 Mirage Edition, an exclusive edition of its most iconic SUV, limited to only 35 units and developed specifically for the Middle East.
The main differentiator of this model is its paint, called Verde Silver Magno, which changes its tone depending on the light, viewing angle, and movement. Due to its personalized nature, each of the 35 units is considered unique. This series was withdrawn from the bespoke customization program Manufaktur Made to Measure, following the Ferrari's Tailor Made concept.
The decision to restrict sales to customers in the Middle East implies recognition of the region's strong interest in ultra-luxury SUVs and customized editions, competing in a market where vehicles like the Toyota Land Cruiser are highly sought after.
In addition to the special paint, the Mirage Edition features 22-inch AMG forged wheels in Tech Gold color, Platinum White interior trim, and an interior pull handle engraved with the edition's name. An insert with the inscription '1 of 35' is present on the spare tire cover.
Mechanically, the SUV retains the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine from the AMG line, currently configured with approximately 585 hp and 86.7 kgfm of torque, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in about 4.5 seconds. This engine belongs to the same family that powers the Aston Martin DB12. The main attraction of this series lies in the personalized finishes and its rarity, not in significant under-the-hood changes.
For the United States, a substitute for the Mirage would be the so-called 'baby G-Class,' a smaller version of the utility vehicle planned for 2027. Although initially conceived as fully electric, there are recent reports that the model may also offer a combustion option, catering to requests from American dealerships. Additionally, a convertible variant of the AMG G 63 is also expected in the US in 2028.
Even without the exclusivity of the Mirage, the G 63 already has a high price in the United States, starting from US$ 195.5 thousand (approximately R$ 1 million), suggesting that the limited edition will have an even higher cost for its few buyers.
