Meta Platforms announced on the 7th the progressive launch of Muse Image, which is the first image generation model created by the Meta Superintelligence Labs team. This technology will be incorporated into the Meta AI chatbot and its application will be extended to several other company platforms.
Features of the new system
This new system allows users to generate images using descriptive commands, in addition to being able to interpret more elaborate instructions. Users can also refine the generated results through their own sketches or annotations, and the tool accepts photographs as a basis for creating new visual content.
Initial availability and expansion
Initially, the feature will be accessible in certain countries, being implemented in Instagram Stories functionalities and private conversations with Meta AI on WhatsApp. The company plans to expand access to other markets and services in subsequent phases.
Artificial Intelligence Strategy
Muse Image reinforces Meta's effort to increase its participation in the field of generative artificial intelligence, a sector where large technology corporations compete for the development of models that produce content and execute automated tasks. According to the company, the tool will enable the addition of more than 30 new artificial intelligence effects for Instagram Stories.
Additionally, selected users will have the option to generate images directly in chats with Meta AI within WhatsApp. Meta clarified that the basic use of Muse Image via Meta AI will remain free, although complementary features are available through the company's subscription plans. The intention is also to bring the model to Facebook and Messenger after this initial distribution phase, as part of a larger strategy to integrate AI features into its various products.
Other Meta launches
This launch follows the presentation of Muse Spark, an artificial intelligence model developed by the same team, which has text processing and reasoning capabilities. The Meta Superintelligence Labs division was established the previous year with the purpose of strengthening Meta's position in the technological dispute related to artificial intelligence.
In addition to the image-focused model, Meta also presented an initial preview of Muse Video, a system dedicated to artificial intelligence video generation. In the released material, the company did not provide additional details about the functioning or availability of this technology.
