According to TechCrunch, Anthropic has implemented an expansion of access to Claude Cowork. This artificial intelligence agent, focused on professional tasks, is now available on both the web and mobile devices.
Work continuity anywhere
This new feature allows a user to start an activity on a computer, monitor its progress via a mobile phone, and view the result later, even if the laptop is turned off. Initially launched for desktop in January, Claude Cowork is now integrated into the web and mobile versions for subscribers of the Max plan.
This change simplifies task tracking without requiring the user to remain connected to the same device throughout the process. If a decision requiring approval arises, the agent pauses execution and requests user intervention before proceeding, allowing activities to advance in the background while other obligations are met.
Broad application beyond programming
Anthropic's intention is to extend the scope of Cowork to cover administrative activities essential to the daily operation of companies. Projects can be shared across web and desktop platforms, facilitating the resumption of a task exactly where it was interrupted.
Among the functionalities the agent can perform are: consolidating scattered data into reports, creating checklists for onboarding new employees, generating presentations, proposals, and texts, in addition to organizing spreadsheets and other administrative demands. A notable feature is the ability to keep tasks running in the background, even when the device is disconnected from the internet.
Practical use example
To illustrate its functionality, the company presented a scenario of preparing for a meeting. In this case, Claude processes emails, transcripts, and recent news, compiles a summary document (briefing), and prepares a follow-up email for review, without sending it automatically.
Analysis of Cowork's business use
An analysis of 1.2 million anonymized sessions, collected from over 600,000 organizations during the last two weeks of May, showed that the tool's use is predominantly aimed at operational support activities for companies. Business process operations accounted for 33.4% of the examined sessions, followed by content creation and writing, with 16.4%. Software development represented 8.7% of the total usage.
In a statement, Anthropic emphasized that although programming continues to be one of the most reported uses of AI, the use of AI in daily corporate routines is growing, and it is becoming evident in which tasks it offers the greatest utility. The company also stressed that its purpose is to set a standard for those looking to incorporate AI products into daily work and to show where the value is most concentrated. With the addition to the web and mobile devices, Claude Cowork accompanies the user at various times of the routine, increasing the agent's reach for professional tasks beyond the desktop environment.
