The First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Ilhom Normulov, held a meeting with a delegation from the South Korean company 'DOHWA Engineering Co., Ltd.'. This company was engaged as part of a World Bank initiative aimed at the comprehensive development of medium-sized cities.
Regional Development Planning
During the meeting, the parties discussed tasks related to forming spatial and territorial strategies for Bukhara, Navoi, Jizzakh, and Syrdarya regions. Furthermore, territorial plans for several districts were reviewed, including Gizhduvan, Shafirkan, Khatyrchin, Nuratin, Zafarabad, Gallyaral, Sardobin, and Syrdaryn, with the goal of creating master plans for specific areas.
Territorial Development Priorities
Significant attention was paid to identifying and locating key development centers in the regions. These centers include cities, residential quarters, industrial zones, as well as hubs for business, tourism, trade, services, and logistics. The necessity of coordinated growth of these elements through transport and economic routes was emphasized, which will subsequently be implemented through infrastructure projects.
Next Steps of the Project
Representatives of the South Korean company plan to visit the specified regions between July and August of this year. The purpose of these visits will be meetings and discussions with local residents, entrepreneurs, and representatives of local hokimiyats. Based on these trips, initial proposals regarding the socio-economic development of the territories, as well as the implementation of modern foreign experience and advanced design methodologies in Uzbekistan, will be prepared.
