A cleanup of the territory was held in the Tshwane area, specifically in Soshanguve Block H, organized by volunteers from universities and local residents. Thanks to this campaign, the area has become significantly cleaner and more pleasant to visit.
Large-scale national campaign
This action was part of a nationwide campaign that was also carried out in several other countries, including the USA, Brazil, Austria, and New Zealand. The campaign was managed by the organizations ASEZ and the Church of God.
Participation of local authorities and volunteers
The opening ceremony of the event was marked by the presence of many public figures, including Hannes Kotzee, a member of the Tshwane city council for public safety. He thanked the group of volunteers, calling them 'a light for this nation'. Tshwane Councillor Tabang Sobotsane supported the volunteers, noting that the participation of ASEZ students in this campaign instills a spirit of active citizenship.
Results and support
The local municipality of Tshwane provided all participants with cleaning supplies, snacks, bottled water, and other necessary support. During the cleanup along a one-kilometer stretch of Soshanguve Block H, about 150 volunteers participated, collecting approximately two tons of trash.
ASEZ's activities in the country
The organization ASEZ conducts volunteer activities not only in the city of Tshwane but also in many other regions of the country. In the current year alone, young volunteers of the organization planted a total of 460 trees in places such as eThekwini, Johannesburg, and Buffalo City, thereby adding a green life impulse to these cities.
