Following the incident of misappropriated donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, questions arose about whether the situation in the city had changed, if pilgrim fervor had decreased, or if the faith of Rama's followers had weakened. A team from the publication 'Aaj Tak' conducted an investigation by visiting key religious and tourist centers in Ayodhya.
Atmosphere at Sarayu Ghat
Visiting Sarayu Ghat is crucial to witness the true enthusiasm and youthful spirit of Ayodhya. When the team arrived at the location, they discovered a stunning scene: families from different parts of the country and a large number of young people enjoying the moment before Ram-Paidi. Despite heavy rain, people were joyfully bathing and having fun in the Sarayu River.
Local Residents' Opinions
Speaking with those present, it was found that the donation theft incident had not affected the atmosphere in Ayodhya, and everything remained as before. Local residents stated that the dispute over donations has no bearing on ordinary people. Many families from other states were taking photos near Ram-Paidi, emphasizing that this dispute did not concern them, as the government is taking action against the culprits.
Lata Chowk: A Center of Attraction
Next, the team headed to Ayodhya's new photo spot—Lata Chowk. Here, majestic solar pillars shine day and night. Even in the hottest midday, people enthusiastically took selfies next to these pillars. Residents of the square unanimously asserted that nothing had changed in Ayodhya. Some families enjoyed local street food, stating that the joy and peace in Ayodhya cannot be found anywhere else in the world, and that the feelings of Rama's followers will never change, no matter what.
Unwavering Faith at Ram Temple
Within the premises of the Ram temple, despite the scorching midday sun, long queues of pilgrims stood, showing no sign of weakening faith. Pilgrims said that regardless of incidents within the temple, their faith in Rama would not diminish. Among the visitors were two elderly women in wheelchairs, aged 105 and 100 respectively. Her son recounted that his mother's last wish was to see Rama in person, and this wish was fulfilled. He added that no theft incidents could weaken their faith in Rama, as Rama possesses everything for everyone.
Assessment of the Hospitality Sector
Many pilgrims also noted that thanks to the rule of Yogi and Modi, wrongdoing individuals are quickly held accountable, which supports their unwavering faith. Upon contacting local hotels to assess the impact of the dispute, it was found that the donation theft incident had no negative effect on room bookings. The number of reservations remained the same as in this year's season.
Hotel Business Indicators
Anand Singh, manager of 'Hotel Crinosco', reported that Ayodhya is considered an off-season because during these months, there are usually fewer bookings due to the monsoon season and the start of the academic year. Nevertheless, occupancy at their hotel currently exceeds 80 percent. He also noted that travel agencies are already making advance bookings for October and the winter months, anticipating a large influx of people during the colder period. Thus, the dispute is not visibly affecting the hospitality business.
