The past weekend marked the beginning of one of the most significant annual music events. Afro Nation Festival 2026 took place from July 3 to 5 at Praia da Rocha beach in Portimão, Algarve, Portugal. The three-day event gathered numerous international performers and stars from South Africa, demonstrating the popularity of the Amapiano genre worldwide.
Performance and Incident
DJ and TV presenter Lamiez Holworthy performed on the Piano People stage, presenting an energetic set with Njelic. During the performance, while the pair captivated the audience with their infectious dance moves, Holworthy lost her balance while attempting a move similar to a 'woho'. Sharing the moment of the fall in her vlog from the past weekend, she showed her subscribers the incident before laughing about it.
Holworthy joked about the incident, stating: 'There's something about when you are over thirty, your knees aren't what they used to be. I'm falling on stage, in front of thousands of people, and Njelic was trying to pick me up, but I'm here, I'm alive. It was so much fun!' Despite the fall in front of the crowd, she looked magnificent in a stylish dress by Orapeleng Modutle, which perfectly matched the festive atmosphere.

Holworthy and Njelic were part of a large number of South African artists who represented their country on the Piano People stage, which is the Amapiano venue at Afro Nation. Throughout the festival, attendees enjoyed performances by major names in this genre. Among them were Kelvin Momo, who delivered one of the most vibrant performances, and Mawhoo, who made the audience sing out loud.
The lineup also included Amaroto, Daliwonga, DJ Lag, Felo Le Tee, LeeMcKrazy, Mellow & Sleazy, Nkosazana Daughter, Royal MusiQ, Scotts Maphuma, and many others. The South African dominance continued on the Everything is Lit stage, where Tyla performed alongside Burna Boy, Uncle Waffles, and Zee Nxumalo.
