Swimming with a view of the Eiffel Tower has become one of the favorite activities for both locals and tourists in Paris in recent days. The French capital is experiencing high temperatures, and the opening of three spots on the Seine River, created for the 2024 Olympic Games, brings pleasure to children and adults.
Weather and new recreation opportunities
At the end of June, Paris experienced record high temperatures, reaching 40°C or even higher. Meteorologists warn of a possible recurrence of the heatwave in the coming weeks, making these 'beaches' particularly relevant.
Swimming spots on the Seine
Visitors to these areas, which are monitored by lifeguards, express admiration for these spaces. American citizen Benjamin Duncan noted: 'Look at this water, with the Eiffel Tower behind it... Could it be more beautiful than this?'
History and accessibility of the areas
It is worth noting that swimming in the Seine was prohibited for a century. This situation changed after Paris became the host city for the 2024 Olympic Games. Since then, three locations on the river have been opened to the public every summer: Bercy, Grenelle, and Bassin de Montmartre. These zones are free to enter and do not require prior registration, and they will be available until August 30. Images taken at Bassin de Montmartre on Monday, July 6, are presented in the gallery above.
