The Motor Industry and Services Alliance (MISA) welcomed the recent vehicle recall initiated by the National Consumer Commission (NCC), but emphasized that this incident highlights the critical importance of maintaining high safety standards across the entire automotive industry and proper management of recall campaigns.
Jaguar Land Rover Recall Details
The recall affects several Jaguar Land Rover models manufactured between 2024 and 2026 that are equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 AJ20-D6 diesel engine. The defect can lead to engine oil leakage, posing a serious danger to other road users, especially motorcyclists.
According to the NCC, the issue is related to the Front Engine Auxiliary Drive (FEAD) roller installed on certain AJ20-D6 engines. This roller can over-rotate after receiving high torque, leading to a strike and damage to the engine's oil pressure and temperature sensor. If the sensor is damaged, oil can leak onto the road, creating a slipping risk for drivers, particularly those operating two-wheeled vehicles.
