Google was traditionally considered a company with complete employment security. Nevertheless, the report indicates that the layoff of 12,000 employees (approximately 6% of the workforce) in 2023, along with subsequent minor reductions, has undermined staff confidence. Technical workers now feel that staying at such a large company as Google is not absolutely safe.

Desire for Autonomy Among Youth

Another technical specialist, Ashna Doshi, told 'Business Insider' that in large technology corporations, one becomes just a tiny cog in a massive machine. Under such conditions, there is no opportunity to make quick decisions or see the direct result of one's work. Because of this, young professionals prefer to take risks, leaving stable jobs at Google to create their own AI startups.

Changes in Corporate Culture

Furthermore, Google has recently reduced working hours in office cafeterias, cut travel budgets, and lowered spending on team events and celebrations. Remote work policies have also been tightened. These small adjustments have affected the overall employee experience.

This trend in the global market serves as an important lesson for Indian IT professionals and students. In the age of AI, simply having the 'label of a big company' is no longer enough; today's youth are willing to take risks, start their own ventures, and make big bets by mastering new technologies such as generative AI.
