Wang Yi announced China's readiness to expand cooperation with Finland in green transition and AI

Chinese Ambassador Wang Yi stated on Sunday that Beijing is ready to work with Finland in a spirit of openness and mutually beneficial cooperation to implement the Joint Action Plan between the two countries. Furthermore, China intends to expand trade and investment, as well as deepen interaction in areas such as green transition, scientific and technological innovation, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Diplomatic Relations Between the Countries

Wang Yi noted that promoting low-carbon and green development has been a long-standing policy of the Chinese government, while Finland possesses unique strengths in sustainable development and innovation. These statements were made during meetings with Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen in Helsinki.

He emphasized that Finland was one of the first Western countries to establish diplomatic ties with New China and the first Western country to sign an intergovernmental trade agreement with China. Over the past 76 years since establishing diplomatic relations, relations between China and Finland have remained at the forefront of China's bilateral ties with Scandinavian countries, demonstrating an example of equal exchange between states with different social systems and cultural characteristics.

China also highly values Finland's commitment to the One China principle and is ready to strengthen exchanges at all levels to build mutual trust and protect the political foundation of bilateral relations. Meanwhile, Wang Yi stated that China is willing to engage in dialogue with the European side based on mutual respect, but stressed that the mechanism for consulting on trade and investment should not be used as a tool for unilateral pressure. He expressed hope that Finland will play an active role in promoting stable relations between China and Europe.

Valtonen also highly praised President Xi Jinping's vision that 'clear waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.' She stated her readiness, in the spirit of following the times and mutual benefit, to develop cooperation potential with China in the fields of green and low-carbon development, trade and investment, healthcare, digital economy, and climate change. Moreover, she pointed out that China is an important partner in solving key global problems, and Finland is ready to enhance communication and coordination with China in multilateral forums, including the United Nations, anticipating constructive dialogue between Europe and China with tangible results. The sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.

Norway's Foreign Minister Ready to Strengthen Cooperation with China

Norway has stated its readiness to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation with China at a high level. Norway's Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said on Monday that the country firmly adheres to the 'One China' principle.

China stated its readiness to work with Montenegro to maintain mutual respect and equality, strengthen political trust, provide firm support for each other's key interests, and expand comprehensive mutually beneficial cooperation, reported Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Tuesday.

Leaders' Meeting in China

These statements were made by Li Qiang during a meeting with Montenegrin Prime Minister Miloajko Spajić in the coastal city of Dalian, located in Liaoning Province in northeastern China. The meeting took place during Spajić's participation in the XVII Annual New Champions Assembly.

Bilateral Relations

Marking the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Montenegro, Li Qiang emphasized that China has always regarded Montenegro as a good friend and partner of Central and Eastern Europe, and expressed delight over a unified, stable, and prosperous Montenegro. He also noted that the Chinese side will continue to support Montenegro in choosing a development path that aligns with its national conditions.

Areas of Economic Partnership

Li Qiang added that China is ready to promote a more optimized and balanced development of bilateral trade, advance high-quality infrastructure development, and expand cooperation in areas such as information and communication technologies, green energy, digital economy, and artificial intelligence. He expressed willingness to import more characteristic and high-quality products from Montenegro and called upon more capable and authoritative Chinese enterprises to invest in Montenegro. Furthermore, it was expressed a wish for Montenegro to continue ensuring a fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies.

Positions of Both Sides

Li also expressed hope for Montenegro's active role in guiding the development of relations between China and the EU in the right direction. For his part, Spajić stated that Montenegro considers China an important partner and thanked China for its valuable support for Montenegro's economic and social development. He is also ready to continuously develop cooperation with China in the fields of trade, investment, infrastructure, green economy, science and technology, education, and tourism. Spajić stressed the great importance Montenegro attaches to China's influence on the international stage and expressed hope to become a bridge for practical cooperation between the EU and China after joining the EU.
