Vishal Gupta, who is one of the founders of PhonePe, has left his post as head of the company's insurance division as the fintech integrates its insurance business with consumer payments.
Transition and New Plans
Gupta departed on Monday to start a new startup after more than ten years working at the major fintech giant based in Bengaluru. The company's insurance vertical will be merged with PhonePe's consumer payment system.
Sonika Chandra, the platform's Director of Business Development, will lead the combined business units. Previously, Gupta worked at e-commerce giant Flipkart, where he held the position of Director of Product, Payments, and Transactions.

In a social media post, Gupta stated: 'I am concluding my work at PhonePe... I am returning to what I liked most in all my workplaces: building from scratch, solving complex problems, finding PMF, and earning the right to scale.'
