The Minister of Health, Ussene Isse, expressed concern over the quality of care provided to patients in Mozambique, emphasizing the urgent need to accelerate the training of specialized health professionals in the country.
Challenges in Mozambican Healthcare
In Maputo, during the opening of the Resident Doctors Integration Course, the minister addressed major global challenges, such as emerging diseases and the triple burden of illnesses affecting current health. According to him, non-communicable chronic diseases and their complications, along with trauma and mental disorders, constitute this 'triple burden' for the sector.
Ussene Isse stressed that the healthcare system's response capacity depends directly on properly trained human capital. Furthermore, the government official appealed to health professionals, demanding respect for ethics and professional conduct, while criticizing those who dehumanize hospital care.
