According to an investigation by Bloomberg involving Ferrari collectors and investors, acquiring the Luce model is being subtly positioned as a condition for those who wish to secure or maintain access to future limited editions and special projects from the automaker.
Ferrari's Positioning
Although Ferrari does not state this explicitly, the brand informed Bloomberg that its policy when selecting clients for the most coveted models, such as special editions, focuses on cultivating 'strong, long-term relationships.' In an official note, Ferrari emphasized that 'we do not encourage clients and collectors to buy any model to please Ferrari,' stressing that 'it is essential that clients consider whether the car aligns with their tastes and preferences.'
Maserati Updates
Maserati presented its 2027 lineup, which includes the GranTurismo, GranCabrio, and Grecale SUV, all receiving a facelift. This redesign brought renewed visual elements, such as new grilles and headlights, giving the brand's identity a more aggressive and unified look.
The mechanical modifications are significant: the GranTurismo and GranCabrio received an enhanced version of the three-liter Nettuno biturbo V6 engine. In the top Trofeo configuration, power increases from 550 hp to 590 hp, allowing the coupe and convertible to reach 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, while retaining the eight-speed ZF 8HP automatic transmission. The Grecale SUV maintains its previous mechanics, with the Nettuno V6 delivering 530 hp. The electric Folgore versions of the coupe and convertible continue with three electric motors, totaling 762 hp.
Maserati's Future Plans
Maserati used the 2027 lineup launch to detail its future plans. Cristiano Fiorio, Maserati's head of marketing, confirmed that the manual gearbox will still have a place, but exclusively for clients of the Bottega Fuoriserie program, a collaboration with Alfa Romeo to create customized and exclusive vehicles. He mentioned that he believes in the return of the new generation Quattroporte sedan, and Santo Ficili, director of operations, stated that a new V8 engine is being considered.
However, the brand's future may involve a partnership with Chinese companies, as reported by Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis. Filosa indicated that Maserati has negotiated with two potential Chinese companies that could bring 'excellent technology, development, and ideas,' but guaranteed that Maserati is not for sale. Chinese sources point to JAC Motors and Huawei as possible partners, with potential for platform sharing.
Changes in Brazilian Traffic Code
The special committee of the Chamber of Deputies responsible for changes to the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB) presented an opinion aimed at optimizing inspection and licensing processes. The rapporteur, Deputy Aureo Ribeiro, consolidated over 270 proposals into a substitute text scheduled for a vote in early July.
A major impact change is the permission for young people aged 16 and 17 to drive. They can obtain a Provisional Driver's License (PPD) and drive Category B cars in urban areas between 5 am and 11:59 pm, provided they are accompanied by a driver with at least two years of experience. For motorcycles up to 150 cm³, this rule is more flexible, allowing the young person to ride alone, respecting the same time and location limits.
Upon reaching 18 years old, the definitive National Driver's License (CNH) will be issued automatically and free of charge, provided the driver has not committed serious, very serious, or repeated medium infractions. Furthermore, the minimum age for professional categories D and E has been reduced from 21 to 20 years. The text establishes a national ceiling of R$ 30 for PPD issuance and R$ 50 per exam, and reduces the required practical class hours to only five lessons for categories A and B, allowing for fully remote theoretical classes and the option of a practical exam in an automatic car.
Inspection and Renewal Rules
The monopoly of old driving schools, now called Traffic Schools, will be broken by allowing autonomous instructors to operate as MEI (Individual Microentrepreneur). In return, renewing the CNH will mandatorily require a psychological examination, whose data will be integrated into a new National Driver's Record. Regarding inspection, the proposal prohibits hidden radars and requires conspicuous signage and public technical study to validate speed fines. In free toll systems, concessionaires must accept Pix or card within 30 days, and evasion fines will only be applied after federal notification. Scooters, mopeds, and electric bicycles must have a rear plate, mandatory helmet, and simplified authorization to drive from age 16, with a speed limit of 6 km/h on sidewalks.
Lada Niva Updates
The Russian automotive market faces challenges due to embargoes, leading AutoVaz to adapt the Lada Niva for the 2027 lineup, which celebrates 50 years of the utility vehicle with its greatest modernization. This update involved incorporating 100 new components and 60 refurbished parts.
The body received factory anti-rust treatment and improvements in acoustic insulation. Internally, the vehicle gained an unprecedented airbag and multimedia center, in addition to air conditioning with a new filter. A notable feature is the single key that serves both to unlock doors and start the engine. Under the hood, the old 1.7 engine was replaced by the new 1.8 8v, inherited from the Niva Travel, which generates 90 hp and 15.6 kgfm of torque. Although the power increase is modest, the new calibration resulted in a 30% reduction in fuel consumption. Safety was also reinforced with the repositioning of the stabilizer bar and the inclusion of ventilated brake discs on the front axle.
Fire Risk in Aston Martin Valkyrie
The Aston Martin Valkyrie, one of the most powerful and expensive cars available, is subject to a small but real risk of fire during track sessions, which prompted the brand to announce a recall.
This risk is extremely specific: it occurs only in Valkyries equipped with the optional track suspension package, under very particular conditions. The car must be on the track, with stability control deactivated (in Sport or Track mode), and the driver must be performing counter-steering while accelerating or braking. Under these circumstances, the ESP system may engage the brake on specific wheels, potentially causing deformation of a master cylinder retainer. This prevents fluid return to the reservoir, leading to brake overheating, which can ignite the carbon fiber of the cooling ducts.
The problem was confirmed after testing a prototype in November 2022. Units manufactured between December 19, 2023, and December 20, 2024, are affected. The recall will be officially announced this month, with a definitive solution expected in November. Currently, owners of the Valkyrie with the optional suspension can take their vehicles to Aston Martin dealerships for a free replacement of the brake master cylinders.
