Following the summer heat, the weather in Delhi and NCR has begun to change. Thanks to the arrival of the monsoon season on July 2, residents of the capital have found relief from the humid heat.
Weather Forecast for July 3
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a probability of rain in Delhi on Friday, July 3. According to the meteorological service data, drizzle or light rain accompanied by strong winds is possible in several areas of Delhi in the afternoon.
On Friday morning, the capital experienced cloudy skies and pleasant weather. The minimum temperature was recorded at 28.1 degrees Celsius. IMD issued a yellow warning, taking into account the possibility of light rain.
Temperature Readings and Wind
According to the latest updates from IMD, clouds will remain in the sky over Delhi. Light precipitation or showers are expected in some places after noon and in the evening. There is also a possibility of strong gusts of wind with thunderstorms. For July 3, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature 28 degrees Celsius.
Various temperature readings were noted in different areas: at Palm Airport in the morning, it was recorded at 25.9 degrees Celsius, which is 1.9 degrees below normal. In Lodhi Road, the temperature was 28.0 degrees Celsius (1.0 degree above normal), while in the Ridge area it was 24.6 degrees Celsius (0.9 degrees below normal), and in Ayangar, it was 25.8 degrees Celsius (1.0 degree below normal).
Monsoon and Air Quality
According to the meteorological service forecasts, strong surface winds of up to 40-50 kilometers per hour will blow in Delhi, along with light rain or drizzle. This year, the monsoon arrived five days later than usual. The rain on July 2 helped lower the temperature in the national capital, with about 4-5 millimeters of precipitation registered at the Safdarjung station.
Regarding air quality, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported that on July 3 at 9 am, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was 89, which falls under the 'satisfactory' category. According to the classification, an AQI from 0 to 50 is considered good, 51 to 100 is satisfactory, 101 to 200 is moderate, 201 to 300 is poor, 301 to 400 is very poor, and 401 to 500 is hazardous.
